What’s Next for Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman?

What’s the Future of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman?

The future of Gal Gadot’s portrayal of Wonder Woman remains uncertain. Despite recent reassurances from Gadot, DC Studios, and its leaders, James Gunn and Peter Safran, there is no confirmed development for a third installment in the Wonder Woman series.

Gal Gadot has expressed her love for the role and her hope for “Wonder Woman 3.” In an interview with ComicBook.com, she mentioned that both Gunn and Safran assured her that they were committed to the project: “I love playing Wonder Woman; it’s been a valuable experience for me. According to James and Peter, we will do ‘Wonder Woman 3’ together.” Gadot added that she had been reassured in meetings with the directors that the character was in good hands.

However, Variety reports that this may be more about managing public expectations rather than concrete plans. The third film is not currently in development at DC Studios, and neither Gunn nor Safran is listed as being involved in any upcoming projects related to Wonder Woman, except for the announced prequel series, “Paradise Lost,” for Max.

In December of last year, “Wonder Woman 3” faced setbacks when Warner Bros. executives rejected director Patty Jenkins’ plans for the sequel. Jenkins eventually withdrew from the project, citing an inability to adapt the film to fit the new direction of the DC Universe under Gunn and Safran. This led to speculation that the film was being put on indefinite hold.

While Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman appeared in Zack Snyder’s DC Universe and featured in solo films directed by Patty Jenkins, the future of her character remains unclear. The only current Wonder Woman-related project is the prequel series “Paradise Lost,” set on Themyscira before Wonder Woman’s birth, which has been described as having a “Game of Thrones”-like tone.

In January of this year, when Gunn and Safran met with the press to introduce the first chapter of their new DC Universe (called “Gods and Monsters”), they announced a single project involving Wonder Woman. It’s called “Paradise Lost,” a prequel series for Max. The series is described as similar to “Game of Thrones,” taking place on the island of Themyscira before Wonder Woman was born.

“I was invited to a meeting with those two talented directors. They said: ‘Wonder Woman is in the best hands, we will do this movie with you. We like you as Wonder Woman, so you don’t have to worry about anything,’” the actress continued.

Sources said that DC has not promised anything to Gal Gadot for the third installment of the series, nor has there been any discussion about Gadot’s Wonder Woman continuing to appear in the new DC Universe.
