She explained, “Whitney is Max, and Michael (Patrick King, co-creator) is Caroline. As I got to know Max better, I started infusing her with parts of myself, especially in season two. The first season was all about finding the characters and their voices. But by season two, I felt more comfortable, relaxed, and free to experiment.”
Max and Kat: The Similarities Dennings revealed that Max is becoming more like her in certain ways. “Max is starting to get nerdier, and that’s 100% me,” she shared. But what’s Kat’s version of nerdy? “I don’t go out much. I stay home, knit, and watch movies. That’s basically my dream life,” she laughed, noting how the term “nerdy” has grown in popularity over the years.
The Strict Script of 2 Broke Girls One of the more surprising aspects Dennings highlighted was the lack of improvisation on the show. “There’s no improvisation at all, everything is word-for-word,” she explained. Even though the dialogue might sound natural, the cast is required to stick to the exact script. If any word is missed or altered, they must go back and redo the scene.
Preparation and Rehearsal In terms of preparation, Kat and her co-star Beth Behrs are dedicated to perfecting their scenes. “We run lines all day between scenes,” Dennings said, noting the importance of getting the lines just right for the show’s punchy humor.
A Glimpse into Thor and Juggling Projects Though tight-lipped about her involvement in the Thor franchise, Dennings expressed her excitement about returning for the second film. Balancing TV and movies has been challenging, but Dennings was eager to make it work, saying, “I didn’t care how many trips it took—I was going to do it. Working with Marvel is such a joy.”
