Holland Taylor says she won’t get married with longtime girlfriend Sarah Paulson.
During an appearance on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM show on August 9, Holland, 81, mentioned why she won’t get married with her girlfriend Sarah, 49, after nine years together.
“I don’t think (we’ll get married). No. We’ve never talked about it with any interest. It doesn’t seem to mean to us what it means to other people.”
While addressing the 31-year age difference between them, the Two and a Half Men actress said,
“I mean, we have a big generational difference between us, which worries me for her sake. But, you know…what can I do?”
However, Holland Taylor said the two would get married if they wanted to. While marriage is not in their plans, Holland confirmed the strength of their relationship and said they have a “wonderful resonance” and are “very interested in the same kinds of things.”
Holland Taylor and Sarah Paulson relationship timeline
Holland Taylor and Sarah Paulson first met each other at a dinner party in 2005 when Paulson was dating Cherry Jones, as per Paulson’s interview with The New York Times in 2016. Paulson also described Holland as “the most exquisitely beautiful woman” she had ever seen.
Nine years later, after their first encounter, the two started following each other on X and began Dming. During a January 2019 interview with Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Paulson recalled the time they first started texting.
“It’s a long story. We met a very, very long time ago. I was with someone else, she was too. We sort of breezed by one another, and then started following each other on Twitter, and then…”
When guest star Billy Eichner asked if Holland “slid into” her DMs, Paulson agreed.
In November 2015, Holland Taylor posted a photo of Sarah wearing a floor-length gown on Twitter, sparking rumors of them dating. In the same month, Holland, during an interview with WNYC, revealed she was dating a younger woman.
“There’s a very big age difference between us which I’m sure shocks a lot of people, and it startles me.”
The couple has a more than 30-year age difference.
Next month, during a podcast interview with PEOPLE, Sarah confirmed dating rumors and revealed that the two had been dating for “a couple months.” They made their first public appearance together the same month, at the opening night of Broadway’s School of Rock in NYC.
The two have since celebrated birthdays together, attended events like the 2016 Critics’ Choice Awards and Emmys, and also attended the 2023 Paris Fashion Week together.
